Standard and status

The aim is for the site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens in a new tab) at level AA.

The site is partially conformant: most of the content meets the requirements, and the exceptions are listed under “Known limitations”.

What has been done

  • Structure. Headings are in the right order, pages have landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer), and every page starts with a “Skip to content” link.
  • Keyboard. Everything works with the keyboard alone and focus is always visible. On phones, the menu closes with Esc and returns focus to its button.
  • Screen readers. Buttons and links have clear names, the current page is marked, the number of filter results is announced, and links that open a new tab say so.
  • Text and colour. Text contrast is at least 4.5:1. There is a light and a dark theme (following your system setting or your own choice). At 400% zoom the content reflows without horizontal scrolling.
  • Motion. With “Reduce motion” turned on, animations and smooth scrolling stop. Videos never start on their own and load only when you play them.
  • Touch. Buttons and links are large enough and spaced apart.
  • Language. Every page declares its language. The English version is separate, with addresses under /en/.
  • Articles. Tables are named and scroll on their own, and images have text descriptions.
  • Booking. The calendar loads only after you choose a format, and an email address and phone number are always shown next to it.
  • The game has a pause (P or Esc), keyboard controls and a “Skip the game” link.

Known limitations

  • The booking calendar runs on Cal.com, and its accessibility depends on that provider. If it gets in your way, write or call me and we will book a time together.
  • The videos are on YouTube and may not have hand-made captions. Each video comes with a written answer and a link to an article on the topic.
  • The game uses real-time graphics and cannot be played with a screen reader.
  • Photos of tax forms in some articles and the attached PDF document may not be fully accessible. If you need them in another format, write to me.
  • The LoopForge synthesizer is a separate application and is not covered by this statement.

How it was checked

By self-assessment. With every change the site goes through automated checks: axe-core on every page, in the light and dark themes, on desktop and on phone; Lighthouse; HTML validation. Keyboard-only use, text zoom, both themes and high-contrast mode were checked by hand.

This statement is reviewed with every major change to the site.
